Run This Town
Jay-Z feat. Kanye West and Rihanna
“We basically run this town. It’s myself, Rihanna and Kanye. It’s pretty much it,” said Jay-Z in a recent interview when asked about “Run This Town.” If the arrogance of this statement doesn’t turn you off this song, then maybe the half baked Kanye Production will. “Hovah” is doing a great job to kill any excitement for the upcoming “The Blueprint 3.”
Party in the U.S.A.
Miley Cyrus
Yes, it’s Miley Cyrus and of course it’s garbage, but to heck with it, we should all back this song. It’s fun, catchy and completely disingenuous, all the things great pop songs should be.
I Gotta Feeling
Black Eyed Peas
The de-evolution of the Black Eyed Peas with each successive album was at first sad. Now, with this track, it’s just laughable how much they’ve sold out.
Down
Jay Sean feat. Lil Wayne
At this point, I think we can all agree that Lil Wayne is way too overexposed. But you have to hand it to him: the dude is so insane it’s hard not to root for him. Oh yeah, and some guy named Jay Sean whose real name is Kamaljit Singh Jhooti (no kidding) sings on the song, too, and he sounds good.
You Belong to Me
Taylor Swift
There’s certainly nothing wrong with this track, but there’s nothing right with it either. There’s not much to say about it, really – perfect music to do something else to, and nothing more. It’s hard to feel or think anything at all after hearing this song. It’s actually kind of depressing. Wait, so maybe it’s emo after all.
