Quarter caps

By on September 8, 2009

First quarter: UGA 7-OSU 0

The Bulldogs received the ball first, opening the game with a 10-play, 80-yard drive ending with a four-yard touchdown pass from Joe Cox to Michael Moore. Oklahoma State struggled offensively, held to just 40 yards on two possessions, both ending in punts.

Second Quarter: OSU 10-UGA 7

Both offenses had trouble moving the ball in the second quarter, but late in the first half Cowboy star receiver Dez Bryant came to life. The junior managed to run past Georgia safety Bryan Evans to catch a 46-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Zac Robinson to tie the score at seven. Georgia tailback Carlton Thomas fumbled on the Bulldogs next possession, giving Oklahoma State a short field with time dwindling in the period. A holding penalty negated a Robinson rushing score, as the Cowboys settled for a field goal to take a three-point lead.

Third Quarter: OSU 17-UGA 10

A 74-yard kickoff return by Cowboys corner Perrish Cox set up a Robinson rushing score, a lead Oklahoma State would not relinquish. Georgia answered with Blair Walsh connecting on a 53-yard field goal, the longest of his career.

Fourth Quarter: OSU 24-UGA 10

A Prince Miller punt return to Oklahoma State’s 1-yard line was called back after a block in the back penalty on the Bulldogs. Three plays later Cox fumbled, giving Oklahoma State premium field position. Robinson once again hit Bryant with a touchdown strike, this time for 12 yards on a slant route. State’s Patrick Lavine intercepted Cox late on fourth down, sealing the victory.
