Bulldogs register two tennis wins at SEC Coaches Classic

NASHVILLE, TENN. – Senior Yvette Hyndman collected wins in singles and doubles in day two of the 2009 Southeastern Conference Coaches Classic here Saturday.

Senior Yvette Hyndman, ranked No. 41 nationally, posted a 6-1,6-1 win over 49th-ranked Karen Nijssen (Ole Miss). In doubles, the Hyndman/Cameron Ellis team defeated Meier/Liley (Kentucky) 8-4. Ellis dropped her singles match to Maria Sorbello (Tennessee) 6-2,6-3. Due to an injury, Bulldog senior Lara Fakhoury did not play her scheduled match.

“We played better in our matches today,” said Georgia coach Jeff Wallace. “Yvette bounced back with a nice win over a ranked opponent in singles, and Cameron and her played a good doubles match too.”

Saturday’s round-robin action featured one round of singles and one round of doubles. Action at the Currey Tennis Center concludes Sunday with all entries playing one singles match.
