Americans ‘should be thankful’ for health care
It is obvious that Ms. Turner’s family went through an ordeal with her brother’s illness. However, in countries such as Canada, which our president is basing his proposed health care reform off of, it would have taken months for her brother to have had the initial visit to the doctor.
Her family could have been one of the lucky ones who wins the ‘doctor lottery’ and gets to see the doctor that week, but it is highly unlikely. Her sick brother would have had to wait months for medical care, and would most likely died from his illness.
Every American should be thankful that (at the moment) we live in a country where a doctor is readily available for our use whenever necessary.
Also, Peachcare is a free health care service offered to any uninsured child in Georgia. The 307,000 children that were mentioned can easily have health care that is already offered by the government and funded by taxpayers. All parents have to do is fill out an application and their child is covered.
Furthermore, no one in this country is denied health care in an emergency situation. It is illegal for hospitals and doctors to turn away patients who do not have insurance. Thus, everyone, including the 2,929,000 people in Georgia that are uninsured, have some form of health care.
I personally do not want the health care reform bill to be passed. Our country has the best health care system in the world, why else would other country’s leaders come here for medical service?
I pray I will never have to wait months and months for my sick child to get care, and that my parents will not have to have a government adviser when they reach a certain age who decides what health services they can and cannot have.
I hope that our great country does not become another socialist system.
