Student charged with drug felonies (w/police report)
A University student was arrested and charged with multiple felony drug charges Wednesday night.
According to the Athens-Clarke County Police report:
Anthony Leonard Fortuna, 20, was arrested after police arrived at his apartment to issue a noise violation citation for a Saturday incident.
After entering Fortuna’s apartment, a drug investigation ensued resulting in felony charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of schedule I, II, III, IV and V drugs.
“They knocked and my roommate told them to come in,” Fortuna told The Red & Black Thursday. “They didn’t identify themselves as police.”
Fortuna said police later obtained a search warrant.
He said he didn’t know how his roommate was dealing with the situation.
“I haven’t talked to him,” he said. “I haven’t seen him since I got back from jail.”
The U.S. Department of Justice categorizes drugs with a potential for abuse in five schedules. These schedules include drugs such as synthetic heroin and “magic mushrooms,” according the department’s Web site.
Fortuna was also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects, possession of a fake ID and underage possession of alcohol.
