Men golfers stand 6th in Illini Invitational

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – The No. 7-ranked Georgia men’s golf team improved one spot to sixth on Saturday in the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational presented by Cleveland Golf/Srixon.

In the second round, the Bulldogs carded a 12-over-par 292 to move to 26-over 586 for the tournament. Georgia is nine shots behind Arizona State (577).

Freshman Brian Carter and junior Harris English each shot an even-par 70 on Saturday, followed by junior Russell Henley at 4-over 74, junior Rob Bennett at 8-over 78 and redshirt freshman T.J. Mitchell at 11-over 81.

Carter is tied for third individually at even-par 140, just one shot behind Florida’s Max Keiffer and Florida State’s Seath Lauer. English is fifth at 1-over 141, while Henley is at 8-over 148, Bennett is at 17-over 157 and Mitchell is at 21-over 161.
