Soccer Dogs take down Tigers on road

The No. 8 Georgia soccer team completed their non-conference schedule with a 2-1 win over Clemson at Riggs Field Friday night.
For the Bulldogs, their current five-game winning streak is their first such since 2007 and for just the third time in school history, the Bulldogs enter SEC play unbeaten at 7-0-1.
Georgia found itself in an unfamiliar position just 1:45 into the match, as the Tigers’ (2-5-0) took an early 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Maddy Elder.
Georgia goalkeeper Michelle Betos saved a shot from the Tigers’ Emily Tatum, but Elder pounced on the rebound to put Clemson in front.
It was the first time since Georgia fell behind 1-0 on Aug. 30 against Mercer that the Bulldogs had trailed.
Georgia found an equalizer in the 13th minute thanks to an unassisted goal by forward Ashley Miller, her third of the season.
Georgia controlled the run of play for most of the remainder of the half, firing seven shots compared to the Tigers’ five.
The Bulldogs pulled in front for good on a penalty kick by Carrie Patterson in the 48th minute.
Patterson colleced a pass and turned towards goal before being taken down in the box. Patterson’s goal was her team-best sixth on the season.
The Bulldogs held on the rest of the way to move to 7-0-1 on the season, out-shooting the Tigers 15-10.
Georgia kicks off SEC play next Friday when they take on LSU in Baton Rouge, the first match of a four-game SEC road trip.
