Volleyball squad set to face Catamounts
Home sweet home.
The Georgia volleyball team can certainly attest to that sentiment following a two-week absence from the Ramsey Student Center.
The Bulldogs (9-3, 1-1 SEC) return home this week to open up a four game homestand after spending the last two weeks in three different states.
Following their tournament victory in Brooklyn, N.Y., the Bulldogs opened up SEC play in Tuscaloosa, Ala., followed by a trip to Starkville, Miss. during the weekend.
After going 4-1 over that stretch, Georgia will look to improve its conference record as they prepare to face three SEC teams over the next 11 days.
The Bulldogs will face the Western Carolina Catamounts (3-10) tonight in their final out of conference matchup of the season. Georgia leads the all-time series 7-0 and has not lost a home match to a Southern Conference team in the program’s history.
If the Bulldogs want to keep that streak alive, they’ll depend on continued steady play from junior outside hitter Erika Clark and junior middle hitter Valentina Gonzalez.
Clark leads the team in kills with 137 and attacks with 376, while Gonzalez is first on the team in hitting percentage (.372), aces (17) and blocks (49).
Georgia will get things started tonight at 7 against Western Carolina followed by LSU on Sept. 27, Arkansas on Oct. 2 and Ole Miss on Oct. 4.
