Students plead not guilty
Three University students who were charged with felony possession of nitrous oxide with intent to distribute on Feb. 23 pleaded not guilty at an arraignment hearing Wednesday.
Roger Steven Willis, who was also charged with felony possession of Adderall and MDMA, or Ecstasy, did not appear at the hearing but automatically entered a not guilty plea because he was in a treatment program, Athens-Clarke County court officials said.
Adam Nicholas Grellinger and Andrew Judson Hart were both charged with misdemeanor possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, to which they each entered a not guilty plea.
According to the Athens-Clarke County Police report:
All three men were arrested after police found 133 drug-related items in their house, including marijuana, pills, mushrooms, smoking devices, a gas mask, whippets and several items associated with drug distribution.
Police also discovered records of illegal drug transactions.
The house was searched on Feb. 23 after police smelled marijuana and saw three glass pipes and numerous nitrous oxide containers in plain view while talking to the three about an unrelated case. Police secured the scene and obtained a warrant, leading to the discovery of the 133 items.
A court date for the three has been set for Nov. 9.
