THE GREEN EVOLUTION: A closer look at A.J. Green’s career so far

By on September 25, 2009

A.J. Green had his coming out party last year in Tempe.

Then a freshman, Green scorched Arizona State for eight catches and 159 yards in his breakout game as a Bulldog.

Since then, Green has done some things – namely lead the SEC in receiving, make spectacular catch after spectacular catch and start what looks to be another stellar season in 2009.

So does anything surprise his teammates anymore?

“Nothing. Not a thing,” said receiver Tavarres King. “That’s Superman right there. He really is.”

With the Sun Devils in town for a rematch, here’s a look at what Green has done in his Georgia career so far:

963 receiving yards for Green in 2008, good enough to lead the SEC and a Georgia freshman record

11 career touchdowns scored

17 yards per catch for Green, with a total of 73 catches for 1,230 yards

77 receiving yards per game average by Green, including three 100-plus yard performances

1 multi-touchdown game in Green’s Georgia career. It came last week against Arkansas

1,192 receiving yards Green is on pace to chart this season, well over the Georgia record of 1,004 (Terrence Edwards, 2002)
