John Soloski harassment case closed (w/documents)
A four-year legal battle with the University concerning sexual harassment allegations may now be over for the former dean of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.
A consent order was signed Friday by Judge Marvin H. Shoob, ordering the University to expunge – or permanently erase – all documents relating to claims filed in 2005 alleging John Soloski violated the University’s Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy.
According to the order, “all documents relating to the allegations, investigation, or resolution of the NDAH matter involving Dr. John Soloski, or which may otherwise reference or discuss the matter which was the subject of this suit, shall be removed from any and all personnel files maintained by the University of Georgia or the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia that contain the personnel records of Dr. Soloski.”
According to documents, the Office of Legal Affairs investigated claims in 2005 filed by Janet Kendall, a former Grady College employee, against Soloski, which claimed he commented on her “assets.” Soloski resigned as dean of the college, but has continued to teach classes within Grady.
Efforts to reach Soloski’s lawyer, Brandon Hornsby, for comment were unsuccessful as of press time Sunday.
