Our Take

Good credit scores

Minimum fees for credit card purchases are holding us back.

Few situations are as uncomfortable as paying a $2.99 bill with a debit or credit card, but we can all admit to having done so.

Lately it seems as though everyone is purchasing goods with cards because who feels like carrying around clumsy bills and coins?

It’s time we all face it: cash is obsolete.

There are commercials urging us to use pennies rather than letting them accumulate in piggy banks or under couch cushions. But the simple fact is that carrying around all that change makes our wallets heavy and results in sifting through piles of coins in the ongoing quest for exact change.

Although credit card companies have contracts with businesses that prohibit those businesses from instituting minimum charges on credit card purchases, it’s no secret that such limitations are in place.

It is because of these that so many of us who venture into a gas station bent on getting a Coke are forced to buy chips, candy and anything else we lay our hands on in order to buy said Coke.

People carrying cash are few and far between these days. Wallets are lighter – enabling women to swing their purses and men to walk without gravity having such strong effects on their pants.

It seems that the credit/debit card has made our lives easier – if only businesses would jump on the bandwagon.
