Volleyball looking for big SEC wins

There is a golden opportunity this weekend at the Ramsey Student Center.
Georgia volleyball faces off against Southeastern Conference foes Arkansas and Ole Miss on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
Georgia (10-4, 1-2 SEC) is looking to get back above .500 in the conference before heading back on the road.
The Bulldogs could not have asked for a better opportunity to accomplish this goal, as the Razorbacks (7-8, 1-3 SEC) and Rebels (6-8, 0-4) have two of the three worst records in the conference.
For Friday’s match against Arkansas, Georgia will need to watch out for true freshman outside hitter Jasmine Norton, who leads Arkansas in kills (175) in her first season of competition.
Georgia holds a two match winning streak against Arkansas, although the Bulldogs have struggled to a 6-13 record in the all-time series against the Razorbacks.
Georgia will look to end a three match losing streak against the Rebels on Sunday and also to avenge a particularly tough 3-2 loss in 2008.
The Bulldogs will need to do a better job against Rebel sophomore outside hitter Katie Norris, who hurt the Bulldogs with 22 kills and four blocks last season.
Sophomore captain Kathleen Gates will look to continue setting the pace for the offense, leading the team with 510 assists so far in 2009. On the other end of that combination, junior outside hitter Erika Clark will need to continue her steady offensive play (157 kills) if Georgia is going to get back into the SEC race.
First serve against Arkansas on Friday is set for 7 p.m. at Ramsey. Play will resume on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. against the Rebels.
