Georgia senior Christian Vitulli and junior Drake Bernstein advanced to the quarterfinals of the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational with a pair of wins Saturday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta.

In main draw action, the No. 6 seed Vitulli beat Virginia Tech’s Will Beck, 6-3, 6-3, then downed Ryan Ybarra of UNC-Wilmington, 7-6(4), 6-2. Bernstein, the No. 4 seed, beat Jordan Walters of Furman, 6-2, 7-5, and the Paladins’ Tyler Droll, 6-4, 6-0

“Christian played well,” associate head coach Will Glen said. “He got a couple of nice wins against some good players. Drake won a couple of good matches today. All in all it was a positive today. We had some tough losses at the end, but we have a lot to build on going into tomorrow.”

In other main draw action, Borja Malo fell to Lucas Viel of South Alabama, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, Michael Pereira of UNC-Wilmington defeated Will Oliver, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, and Will Reynolds dropped a 7-5, 6-4 match to Tennessee’s Matteo Fago. Alex Hill fell to Armstrong Atlantic’s Dan Regan, 7-6(4), 6-2, in the “B” draw.

In doubles action, three Georgia teams won three matches against their Tennessee counterparts in the “A” draw round of 16. Malo and Vitulli won 8-6 over Max Stevens and Bryan Swartz, Hill and Bernstein downed Edward Jones and Patrick Taylor, 7-6(8), and Oliver and Reynolds topped Fago and Rhyne Williams, 8-5.

Bernstein and Vitulli will play in the quarterfinal round on Sunday.
