Plastic will not replace cash
I refuse to believe that cash will ever become obsolete in society. The fact that some places offer discounts for those willing to pay cash, and that not all businesses accept all types of credit cards keeps cash relevant.
Personally, I can’t even pay my tuition with credit because the University doesn’t accept Visa. I always carry cash (securely), and have never used my debit card for anything other than withdrawing cash from the ATM. Except for necessities, if I don’t have the cash on hand to pay for the item, then I don’t need it, and that attitude would better serve the majority of America today.
For those who feel cash is obsolete, I think you need to spend some time at the Tate Plaza and count the people using those ATMs. That should change your mind. And if you don’t want your change, I will gladly take it off your hands.
