MAN ON THE STREET:

By on October 5, 2009

Chicago fell short in its pursuit as host of the 2016 Olympic Games, when it was knocked out of contention on Friday by the 104-member International Olympic Committee. The committee decided between four cities – Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo – before choosing Rio de Janeiro as home of the 2016 Olympics.

President Barack Obama traveled to Copenhagen on Friday to make a push to the IOC to bring the Olympics to Chicago. The U.S. hasn’t hosted the Summer Games since the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

The Red & Black spoke with several students to hear their reactions to the Olympic Committee’s choice of Rio de Janeiro.
