Student reports rape at fraternity house, refuses to have incident investigated
A University student reported she was raped by a known individual at the Pi Kappa Alpha house Tuesday night, but has refused to have the incident investigated or prosecuted, according to the University Police Department.
The woman told UGA Police that between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 3:46 a.m. Wednesday, a known individual had sexual intercourse with her against her will and that alcohol was involved.
This is the second incident this fall semester where a student reported a rape but chose not to pursue the matter. In late August, a University student reported a known individual had sex with her without her consent at East Campus Village during an encounter involving alcohol.
At that time, University Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said the victim “came in and talked to [the police], and then said she didn’t want to pursue this any further.”
