Dogs’ soccer player honored
Yet another Bulldog soccer player was honored Wednesday, this time on the national level, as senior forward Natalie Farley was named the Top Drawer National Player of the Week.
Farley joins other honored players including senior goalkeeper Michelle Betos, who won Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week this week; Rebekah Perry, who garnered SEC Freshman of the Week honors earlier in the season; and senior Carrie Patterson, SEC Offensive Player of the Week the first week of the season.
Farley scored the first goal of the game for the Bulldogs in Sunday’s contest against Vanderbilt, a game Georgia went on to win 3-0.
She was also a large part of the Bulldog defense that has produced three consecutive shutouts for a team that now stands at 10-1-1 and No. 13 in the country.
Evans to be honored by the Boys and Girls Club
Georgia Athletic Director Damon Evans will be inducted into the Boys and Girls Club’s Alumni Hall of Fame tonight at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta.
For the past 20 years, the Boys and Girls Club has hosted the event to say thanks to the individuals and organizations that have positively affected children’s lives.
Among other guests will be Atlanta Braves great Hank Aaron, accepting the Chairman’s Award on behalf of the organization for his work with The Hank Aaron Chasing a Dream Foundation.
Evans has received accolades in the past for his work as well. His awards include Sports Business Journal’s “40 under 40″ and Sports Illustrated’s “101 Most Influential Minorities in Sports.”
