Volleyball faces toughest challenges of the season this weekend
Georgia volleyball heads out of town this weekend facing an uphill climb.
The Bulldogs (11-6, 2-3 SEC) head to Knoxville, Tenn. and Lexington, Ky. to take on two of the Southeastern Conference’s best teams – Tennessee and Kentucky.
Georgia will take on the Lady Volunteers (10-5, 3-2) on Friday, looking to end their troubles at Thompson-Boling Arena where the Bulldogs have not won since 2001. Recent history has not been on the side of Georgia, as Tennessee has taken nine out of the past 10 matches.
No. 10 Kentucky (15-1, 5-0 SEC) may prove to be an even more formidable obstacle as the Wildcats are making a strong push for being recognized as not only the best team in the conference, but also one of the best nationally.
Last weekend saw Kentucky knock off conference powerhouse, and then-No. 6, Florida to stay undefeated in SEC play.
Kentucky has won eight straight matches against Georgia, with the Bulldogs not notching a win since the pre-McCartney era – back in 2004.
