Henley tied for first at Brickyard Collegiate
MACON, Ga. – Georgia’s Russell Henley is tied for first place after one
round of the Brickyard Collegiate Championship.
Playing Saturday at The Brickyard at Riverside, Henley fired a 3-under-par
69. The junior who is a Macon native is tied with five other players for the
top spot.
As a team, the Bulldogs stand 14th in the tournament. In the first round,
Georgia carded a 12-over-par 300 and is 18 shots behind tournament leader
Augusta State.
Junior Harris English, the 2007 Brickyard medalist, fired a 4-over 76,
followed by junior Rob Bennett at 5-over 77 and redshirt freshman T.J.
Mitchell at 6-over 78. Freshman Brian Carter had the Bulldogs’ non-counting
score of 9-over 81.
Georgia played the front nine in even par but was 12-over on the back nine.
Among the Bulldogs’ counting scores on the back nine were 11 bogeys, two
double bogeys and one triple bogey.
