Men’s basketball student tickets on sale today
Georgia basketball fans, check your e-mails.
The Athletic Association will be sending out an e-mail blast today to all students at 12:30 p.m., offering students the first chance to get a glimpse of the Dogs under new coach Mark Fox. Student season tickets will go on sale today at noon and be on sale until this Thursday at noon.
“All students are going to receive the same sort of a blast sent out on Monday morning at 12:30, so it will have time to hit everybody while season tickets are still on sale,” said John Bateman, director of marketing for the athletic association.
For tickets to all 16 home games, students will be charged $25, which includes home games against out-of-conference rival Georgia Tech, as well as traditional Southeastern Conference powerhouses Florida and Kentucky. As in years past, single-game tickets will be available for all home games.
“Students will have three options for single game buy. We’re going to have a three-day window for every home game online as a single game basis, and we will also have them available at the bookstore on the day of the game, and then at ticket booth 4, starting an hour and a half before every game,” Bateman said.
Just like football, tickets will be loaded onto student’s UGA cards and swiped upon entrance. As in the past, seats in the student section will be general admission.
Tickets to Georgia’s Dec. 19 clash with Illinois at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth will be available for $5 for students, Bateman said.
Bliss’ opinion about the Dogs
The Red & Black caught up with former Bulldog Dave Bliss for his take on new coach Fox and the team for the upcoming season.
On this year’s Georgia team: “As far as Georgia goes, that’s a little bit harder for me to say. I think they’ve got some good young guys to build around with Trey [Thompkins] and Dustin [Ware] really coming on strong at the end of last year.
“I was impressed with what I saw out of [Tennessee State transfer] Gerald Robinson. He won’t be playing because of transfer rules, but I think that’s a good pickup that no one is really talking about. That was a big get for coach Fox, and we will see. Obviously, last year was a struggle and those guys should be really hungry and really trying to make something special out of that.”
On coach Fox: “He’s going to be a good representative for the university. His record speaks for itself, and hopefully he can continue the success from Nevada and bring some of the things he did there to Georgia and raise the program to the level we’re looking to get to.”
