OUR TAKE
Don’t lose faith yet
Fans need to keep a positive attitude toward football team despite losses
Let’s all just take a deep breath and relax. Yes, the football team got blown out of Neyland Stadium on Saturday while making Tennessee’s generally incompetent quarterback Jonathan Crompton look like a Heisman Trophy candidate.
Yes, the offense laid another egg. Yes, the defense looked atrocious.
But let’s take a look at some not-so-recent history. In 2007, the Dogs lost to Tennessee 35-14 and then nearly ended up in the BCS title game.
Though this team is certainly not the 2007 team by any stretch of the imagination, Georgia fans need to remain positive and support their team. The team knows when fans are down on them, and negativity from the stands can influence the play on the field.
We have already heard the calls for defensive coordinator Willie Martinez’s head and for quarterback Joe Cox to be benched in favor of Aaron Murray.
Georgia coach Mark Richt would be a fool to play Murray this season, and Martinez is unlikely to be dismissed during the season.
So let’s all try to be positive and cheer the Dogs this weekend at Vanderbilt and for the remainder of the season. All is not lost, yet.
