Swimming and Diving hit the water for start of season

The Georgia swimming and diving teams get underway this afternoon with its normal meeting with the University of North Carolina to open the season.

The meet will be at 3 p.m. at the Gabriel Natatorium at the Ramsey Student Center and will be free for all.

The Lady Bulldogs’ squad, which was runner-up last season at the NCAA’s, will be looking to start the season where they left off last season, as it returns two individual national champions in Allison Schmitt and Wendy Trott as well as its 200-meter medley relay team that took home national champion honors last season.

The Bulldogs will be led by NCAA champion Troyden Prinsloo and NCAA runner-up Mark Dylla.

Tennis’ Hill advances at ITA’s

Georgia’s Alex Hill used a come-from-behind, three set thriller, to defeat Stetson’s Njal Stene 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-3, Thursday in the qualifying rounds of the ITA Southeast Regionals held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Hill now advances to the round of 64 set to begin today.

Scheduled to play today for the Bulldogs’ is their top player Nate Schnugg and the rest of the Bulldogs’ squad in singles matches. The top doubles team of Schnugg and Jamie Hunt will take the court against Alain Garrido and Juan Melian-Puigventos of Georgia Southern.

Women’s tennis heads to Atlanta

Chelsey Gullickson will look to defend her title from last season, as she leads four Lady Bulldog tennis players at the ITA South Regionals in Atlanta. The event will be held on the Georgia Tech campus and will feature schools such as Florida, Florida State, Tech, Miama and Georgia Southern as a few of the highlights.
