DEVILISH DISPLAY

With Halloween just days away, it seems that everyone is preparing their holiday plans. For some, that means finding costumes, planning parties and carving pumpkins, but for the folks at Walk The Line Tattoo, it means tirelessly orchestrating a lavish, Halloween-themed art show.
It all began in August when Radar, the owner of Walk the Line, and a collection of other artists organized the inaugural “Don’t Tell Mommy” erotic art show. The event’s success led the group to consider another show, and with Halloween just around the corner, it only seemed natural to connect the two.
Radar said Joe Havasy, a local artist and University alumnus who has exhibited his work extensively throughout the region, came up with the idea. After participating in the erotic art show, he gathered friends, other local artists and Walk the Line’s tattoo artists to present the Halloween exhibit, “After Dinner…BRAINS!!!”
“I’ve had Halloween shows every year since 2005,” Havasy said. “I always like having them.”
The exhibit includes works that keep with the seasonal spirit, featuring everything from simplistic drawings of a legless woman to comedic renditions of classic Halloween characters and themes.
Radar and Havasy said these art shows present an opportunity for local artists and for the tattoo shop and its patrons.
“I just like to get local artists in to show their stuff,” Radar said. “Being a tattoo shop, we always have artwork up here.”
