Unfair furloughs?

Several University employees are treated unfairly by furloughs.

By now we are all growing tired of hearing about furloughs.

We get it, times are tough, and our professors will be unavailable to help us Friday should we need them.

But that’s just how they affect us as students.

University employees who make less than $23,660 were previously told they would not be affected by the furloughs and would not face pay cuts.

Yet, since the University is shutting down for the furlough days, these workers don’t have the option to come in to work their usual eight hours.

Friday, this group of employees can either work overtime, work four 10-hour days or take a sick day.

The editorial board cannot believe this. It’s no secret the administration favors the faculty who earns the big bucks, but we think this is taking the favoritism too far.

These employees are necessary. Who will work in the dining halls serving the food the University loves to brag about?

These people are valuable to the University community and these furlough days might cause them to find jobs where they are not ignored.

Could the latest Georgia-Florida match up give us a victory over the gators?

From ‘run, Lindsay, run’ to unnecessary timeouts with your team up 39 points, the Georgia-Florida matchup is unlike any other.

Both sides hate each other and it’s no secret. We all remember when Georgia rushed the field in 2007 and Trinton Sturdivant put on his dancing shoes after the first score of the game. Well, Florida used that as motivation for the entire next season, and we all know what the outcome of last years game was.

This year, the Bulldogs have turned to Florida coach Urban Meyer as inspiration, apparently lifting weights with pictures of him calling timeout as all the motivation they need for this weeks game.

Yeah, you can argue that Georgia Tech is our biggest rival, but when it comes down to it, is there anyone else you would rather beat?

If there’s ever a time that the Gators are primed to be beat, it’s now. Let’s go Dogs, go kick some Gator tail.
