Do you have what it takes to be a radio DJ for WUOG? Probably.

When hiring disc jockeys for the University’s radio station, Ellen Bagwell must consider the reputation that WUOG has to uphold.

“I’m the final word in the DJs that we hire, so I have to make sure we have the best DJs on air,” she said.

Who are the Hoop Girls?

“We aren’t water girls, we aren’t groupies,” Gabriella Baetti, a Hoop Girl and sophomore from Roswell told The Red & Black. “Some people think we do this just to get in with the team, but it’s not like that at all.”

Hoop Girls, the promotional organization for the men’s basketball team, has been around since in 1993.

FAN I was disappointed by the Twilight fans on the movie’s premier night. Maybe it was my own fault for getting so hyped up by the media attention, but I thought that my “New Moon” midnight premiere experience was going to make me laugh with ludicrous costumes or fake blood.

ATLANTA – Reshad Jones wasn’t going to be a goat again, and he wasn’t going to let Willie Martinez be one either.

The majority of Georgia fans’ fingers were pointed squarely at the Bulldogs’ safety and defensive coordinator after Georgia’s embarrassing loss to Georgia Tech last season – at Jones for “the push,” an ill-fated attempt at shoving Tech running back Roddy Jones out of bounds, and at Martinez, for allowing his team to squander a 28-12 halftime lead.

“I run this state.”

The phrase was inscribed on both Georgia tailbacks Saturday night – on Washaun Ealey’s eye black and Caleb King’s arm.

And in the Bulldogs’ 30-24 win over Georgia Tech, they did just that, combining for 349 yards.

The two backs didn’t just rush the ball.

“What a fantastic finish to our season,” Georgia head coach Joel McCartney said.

Forget about the future – Georgia living in the now

ATLANTA – Now Georgia’s attention turns to…

Actually, you know what? Forget about what’s next.

A 30-24 upset victory over in-state rival Georgia Tech should consume the moment, this week, the holidays and the year to come.

Far too often people reach for what happens next, or what this win means or go to great lengths in search of context or discuss what could have been.

KING OF THE STATE: Dogs dominate Tech to ‘set the record straight’

ATLANTA – For now, it won’t be 7-5 that this Georgia team is remembered for.

It won’t be the 4-4 mark in the SEC.

For now, it will be 30-24. It will be the final score of a win over top-10 rival Georgia Tech.

“We saw the pictures of them with the hedges in their mouths, the pictures of them celebrating on our field, and that was enough to get us motivated,” said Georgia linebacker Rennie Curran.
