Nothing changes: Cox to start against Tennessee Tech

Joe Cox will remain Georgia’s starting quarterback, coach Mark Richt said Monday.
After throwing three interceptions in the second half against Florida, Cox was replaced by sophomore Logan Gray in the fourth quarter of the 41-17 loss.
Rumors swirled of a permanent change, with either Gray or freshman Aaron Murray starting against Tennessee Tech this Saturday.
Richt ended speculation Monday, saying Cox is still the best option.
“It was unanimous among our staff that Joe gives us the best chance to win and that’s where our focus needs to be,” Richt said.
Cox has 12 interceptions on the season and 13 touchdowns.
Georgia’s 4-4 record and Cox being a senior have many fans calling for a younger quarterback to finish out the season in preparation for next year.
However, Richt isn’t going to sacrifice the remaining four games.
“There’s still a lot of football left this season,” he said. “We tell our players to finish the drill and we are committed to doing that this week and each week the remainder of the season. We have faith in Joe that he gives us the best opportunity to do that.”
Green likely out against Tennessee Tech
Receiver A.J. Green will not join Cox on the field Saturday, missing time with a back injury.
The sophomore was injured after attempting to make a catch and taking a jolting hit to the back and ribs against Florida.
Green should return next week.
Joining Green in the trainer’s room: Starting defensive end Justin Houston, listed as doubtful with a hyper extended elbow. Starting left guard Clint Boling has a knee contusion and is probable.
ESPN still sees Georgia-Auburn as quality game
Despite both Georgia and Auburn being ranked outside of the polls, the Nov. 14 matchup will be televised nationally.
ESPN or ESPN2 will broadcast the game, with kickoff set at 7 p.m.
