Colleges host homecoming tailgates
When it comes to Saturdays in Athens, the Classic City is tailgate tested, tailgate approved. Lasting game day traditions of the loyal Bulldog nation earned the University the No. 9 spot on Tailgater Monthly’s 2009 list of Top 10 Tailgating Colleges.
“Tailgating flourishes in this part of the country because it mirrors the lifestyle of the South,” said Kevin Miller, publisher of Tailgater Monthly Magazine. “Where else can you go up to complete strangers, introduce yourself and very likely get a cold beverage and a plate of good food?”
Students, faculty, alumni and other Bulldog fans will follow Miller’s guidelines by setting up tents and firing up grills across campus Saturday. Several University schools and colleges will host Homecoming tailgates to manifest their Southern hospitality with food and entertainment.
