A University student told police he was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning after catching a taxi downtown.

According to the Athens-Clarke County Police report:

Dustin Schulz, a 22-year-old from Alpharetta, was drinking downtown when he was separated from his friends. He went to Boar’s Head bar where he stayed for a while before catching a taxi.

When Schulz got in the taxi and asked to be taken to The Woodlands on Barnett Shoals Road, a young clean-cut man sitting in the passenger seat reached to the top of the car and pulled down the taxi sign.

Schulz was then driven to the Quick Pantry on North Avenue, where the driver, a young man with dreadlocks, pulled a silver and black semi-automatic pistol and demanded money.

The passenger took Schulz’s cell phone and wallet, removed $10 and one of his credit cards, then returned the wallet.

Schulz described the taxi as a champagne-colored older model Cadillac.

Schulz could not be reached for comment.
