THE WEEK: The Red & Black’s event guide to happenings – news, variety and sports – in and around Athens from Jan. 28- Feb 3.
Kicking off their first show of the year this Saturday at the 40 Watt, Modern Skirts, with guests Reptar and Thayer Sarrano, will be performing new material for an upcoming album still in the works.
“We’re more excited about this than anything we’ve done in a long, long, long time. It’s been in the works for the past year, slow like stew,” singer and guitarist Jojo Glidewell said.
The new album — tentatively set for a release this fall – will feature a new sound, a fresh approach at songwriting and extra focus on cohesiveness.
“We have always been known for our ability to genre-jump with our pop songs, but I believe our newest music takes a closer listen to accept,” guitarist Jay Gulley said. “There is not as much style variation. There is more focus on sound cooperation.”
