THE WEEK: The Red & Black’s event guide to happenings — news, variety and sports — in and around Athens from Feb. 4- Feb. 10.

By on February 3, 2010

Kite to the Moon will headline the Caledonia Lounge's benefit concert, Bands for Haiti, Monday night.

PICK OF THE WEEK: BANDS FOR HAITI

With so many Americans striving to provide aid for the victims of last month’s earthquake in Haiti, it is no surprise that musical groups have jumped on the bandwagon as well. Bringing such a global issue to the heart of Athens, the Red Cross is bringing local bands to perform at the Caledonia Lounge next Monday at 9 p.m.
The night will begin with Daffodil, a rock ’n’ roll trio whose influences stem back to the 1990s. Straight out of Athens, the band is best known for its hit “Bonesaw.”
They will perform alongside indie rock bands Dusty Lightswitch and Kite to the Moon.
This is sure to be one event that rocks all night long. Anyone and everyone is invited to come kick back and rock hard with these bands to raise money for Haiti relief.
Tickets are only $5 for attendees 21 years and older and $7 for 18 to 20-year-olds — not much to pay to enjoy a night full of fun, drinks and ear-pleasing live music.
These artists are bringing their love for music home and working to give back to those who are fighting for survival in Haiti, so don’t miss the opportunity to lean a helping hand, or simply your ears.
