Georgia’s Henley, Swafford advance to U.S. Open
Georgia golfers Russell Henley and Hudson Swafford each advanced to the U.S. Open on Monday from sectional qualifying tournaments.
The 2010 U.S. Open will be held June 17-20 in Pebble Beach, Calif.
“I am so proud of those guys,” Georgia coach Chris Haack said. “This is a great opportunity for them, and they are both so excited about it. Russell and Hudson work so hard, and it’s nice to see that hard work rewarded with something like this.”
Henley, a rising senior from Macon, posted rounds of 73-64 to take medalist honors at Ansley Golf Club in Roswell.
Swafford, a rising senior from Tallahassee, Fla., claimed co-medalist honors in Memphis, Tenn., at the Germantown and Ridgeway Country Clubs. Swafford shots rounds of 67-65 to share the top spot.
