Designer frustrated by result
Not everything that glittered was gold. As Athens Fashion Week winds down, one designer voiced some concerns about the event’s organization.
“After hearing the wonderful concept for Athens Fashion Week, I was very excited to be a part of such an event,” said William Pattiz, whose Otter Bay Company was featured in the men’s fashion show. “And sadly I have to say I was disappointed to see the end result.”

The turnout could have been better, he said, as could the behind-the-scenes logistics.
“While I did expect some unavoidable mistakes for an inaugural event,” Pattiz said, “the lack of coordination made it very difficult as a designer to work with AFW at times.”
However, those spearheading the week said it has been a resounding success.
“This is about raising money for worthy causes,” said Nicole McClellan, public relations chair for fashion week.
Any difficulties arose from last-second, unwieldy demands, said Corey McCants, the event’s co-chair.
“We had to make an executive decision in the interest of Athens Fashion Week,” he said.
Any designers who might not have been happy are far outnumbered by those who were, McCants said. From Pattiz’s perspective, the night did ultimately come together.
“The show did turn out nice but not without its frustrations,” he said.
But Pattiz said he’s looking forward to seeing the growth and development of fashion week.
With 150 people in attendance, McClellan already considers Wednesday’s shows a success.
“With so many people involved, it’s hard to make everyone happy,” she said.
