Bulldogs slated to wear ‘Pro Combat’ uniform for Boise State game
The Georgia football team is known for changing the color of its uniform, but for the season opener against Boise State the Bulldogs will be outfitted with different kind of uniform altogether.
Georgia is one of nine college programs slated to wear the Nike Pro Combat uniform in at least one game this season. The uniform incorporates the latest in performance innovation and design, with a redesigned base layer which delivers “the ultimate in lightweight protection for maximum speed. Strategically placed seams, pads and cooling zones also help minimize distraction and optimize protective coverage,” the release from Nike reads.
Oregon debuted the uniform during the 2010 BCS National Championship Game.
“Nike takes pride in giving athletes an advantage by providing them with cutting edge innovation,” said Todd Van Horne, Nike’s Creative Director for Football. “The Nike Pro Combat system of dress uniform delivers unparalleled on-field performance benefits while inspiring the team through each uniform’s unique design. It is a privilege to collaborate with the coaches and student-athletes to develop a look that’s truly distinctive to each university and their teams.”
Nike worked closely with each university to bring relevant elements of the school’s heritage into a distinguished, modern uniform design. The other teams selected to sport the uniforms include the Army, Boise State, LSU, Michigan State, Navy, Ohio State, Oregon and Stanford.
