Drag queens lead night of bingo, lube jokes

By on October 27, 2011

Boybutante’s Drag Bingo is not the bingo your grandparents play.

Boybutante hosted a night of charity bingo, and the drag-ful evening was marked by crass, referential humor. EVAN STICHLER/Staff

Served with a side of crass jokes, monstrous wigs and tacky dresses, these drag queens came out to play.

Tables were littered in Bingo cards and glasses of wine at the Melting Point while over 140 participants waited to hear their numbers called.

Chattering about and clanging their plates, the guests were armed with daubers, ready to mark their winning ticket.

In between the hit-or-miss jokes and number calls by drag queen performer and host Sophia Low Rent were shouts of “Bingo!” or scoffs and laughs at the host’s attempt at humor.

Playing on themes of masturbation, pop icons like R.E.M and Amy Winehouse and little snippets of corny jokes the crowd had probably heard before, Sophia managed to keep the room alive – even though whether or not she was always funny up for debate.

With the help of her assistants, the Genitalia Sisters, and their often witty commentary, Drag Bingo was a punchy night of entertainment.

During each prize round, the Genitalia Sisters couldn’t help but make lube and facial jokes that, although repetitive, still pierced the little kid inside that laughs at the words “facial” or “lube job.”

After four rounds of bingo, three wardrobe changes by Sophia Low Rent and an abundance of prizes, ranging from “Best of R.E.M” CDs to weekend getaways at Foundry, the crowd seemed satisfied, leaving with money well spent.

If anything else, they may have thought, it beat watching an episode of Jersey Shore – and they got prizes instead of lost brain cells.
