FOOTBALL NOTES: Georgia’s Outback Bowl wounds minor

By on January 4, 2012

A pair of Bulldogs who were injured in the Outback Bowl should be ready to go by spring practice.

Nose tackle John Jenkins (left shoulder joint sprain) and tailback Ken Malcome (concussion) both suffered injuries during Georgia’s Outback Bowl defeat to Michigan State on Monday.

According to Georgia sports information director/senior associate athletic director Claude Felton, the injuries will be healed in time for both to take part in the Bulldogs’ spring drills.

But Jenkins and Malcome are not the only Bulldogs who are not fully healthy at the end of the football season, as wide receiver Chris Conley will undergo surgery on his wrist later this week.

Felton said the injury was not suffered at any point during the season, and is a pre-existing condition the freshman has had since his prep days at North Paulding High School in Dallas, Ga.

The surgery will likely limit Conley’s availability at the beginning of spring practice.

G-Day date announced

The Bulldogs annual intrasquad scrimmage — the G-Day Game — will take place on April 14 at Sanford Stadium.

When spring practice will start and what days those practices will be unveiled at a late time.
