Former Diamond Dog dies in Florida fire
Former Georgia pitcher Chris Fordham died as a result of a fire in his Jacksonville condominium Sunday, the Florida Times-Union reported.
According to the Times-Union, a neighbor called 911 after seeing flames coming from Fordham’s window around noon. After firefighters arrived, Fordham was taken to the Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he died shortly later.
The Albany native was a Bulldog pitcher in 2000 and 2001. He lettered in 2001, appearing in three games as the team went on to a 47-22 (20-10) record, won the Southeastern Conference championship and made it to the College World Series.
