Malcolm Mitchell takes on freshman Keith Marshall in a foot race

By on January 17, 2012

Keith Marshall apparently isn’t lacking in confidence.

KEITH MARSHALL

He’s confident enough, in fact, that the early enrollee has not shied away from engaging in foot races against Bulldogs wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell, whose low time in the 40-yard dash has been reported to be 4.4 seconds.

Marshall, on the other hand, has been clocked a tick faster, running the 40 in 4.3 seconds.

Anyway, to fill folks in, we turn to the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Chip Towers, who reported that the duo had raced against each other in 40-yard sprints on previous occasions since Marshall arrived in Athens.

However, Bulldogs starting quarterback Aaron Murray was not present to see them, so the signal-caller asked the two to race again.

This time, Murray filmed and provided play-by-play narration of the action while wide receiver Chris Conley supplied color commentary.

MALCOLM MITCHELL

Mitchell won the first of the three heats, but Marshall took the second.

I won’t spoil who won the championship , but I will provide links to the three races below.

Marshall — the freshman running back prospect ranked by Scout.com as the top player in the nation at his position — has already drawn rave reviews from his coaches and teammates for his beyond-his-years maturity and strong work ethic.

These races against the Bulldogs’ top receiver shouldn’t do anything to change that.
