A University student was arrested Friday night on charges of underage possession or consumption of alcohol and urinating in public, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police report.

Megan Nicole Cancilla, 20, was approached by officers after they witnessed her enter the parking deck on North Thomas Street. She “squatted down beside a green Jeep urinating,” according to the report.

Cancilla saw officers approaching and attempted to leave. She was stopped by an officer who requested her ID. Cancilla was holding a New York driver’s license, but said it did not belong to her, according to the report.

The officers noticed Cancilla was unstable on her feet, slurring her speech and had the smell of alcohol on her breath. Cancilla told the officer “she wasn’t that drunk because she could still count the number of drinks she had consumed,” according to the report.

She told the officer she was 20 years old and was arrested and transported to Clarke County Jail.
