Harvey-Clemons’ letter-of-intent saga finally ends

By on February 2, 2012

After a hectic twenty-four hour standoff of sending in his letter-of-intent, Josh Harvey-Clemons finally sent in his signature to Georgia on Thursday morning to become the 19th and final official signee for the Bulldogs’ 2012 class.

Harvey-Clemons announced he had picked Georgia over Florida, Florida State and Miami yesterday morning on a live broadcast by ESPNU, but was forced to hold off on sending his letter-of-intent to the Bulldogs’ football offices by his grandfather, Woodrow Clemons, who is his legal guardian.

Rumors flew around the web that Woodrow preferred that his grandson sign with the Bulldogs’ arch-rival, the Florida Gators, but nothing has been said from either party to back that up.

Despite the uncertainty, Georgia head coach Mark Richt said at his press conference on Wednesday that he wasn’t worried about eventually getting Harvey-Clemons’ signature.

Harvey-Clemons also told ESPN that he was “100 percent Georgia. I just have to finish my paperwork and send it in. It might be tonight or tomorrow.”

In Harvey-Clemons, the Bulldogs get a 6-foot-5, 210-pound do-it-all athlete.

He’s expected to come in as an outside linebacker, but he is also capable of playing safety and wide receiver, which speaks highly of his athletic ability.
