Athens is rife with houses for rent, but with so many apartments, why would you consider renting a house?
Richard Martin, an assistant real estate professor at the University, said renting a house has its benefits.
“When you rent a house there are no shared walls, no noisy neighbors, more room and parking is at the door,” Martin said.
City aids push to go green

With efforts across campus to go green, do these initiatives cross Broad Street to downtown?
According to Athens-Clarke County waste reduction administrator Suki Janssen, the answer is yes.
Between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009 the downtown Athens district recycled more than 17 tons of paper, 320 tons of cardboard and 848 tons of glass, aluminum and steel, according to the annual recycling report.

The Georgia Bulldog Radio Network has found a home for the football gameday broadcast show in Athens’ newest boutique hotel.
Hotel Indigo, located just five blocks from campus on College Avenue, will be broadcasting pre- and post-game shows live from the hotel.
UGAtheists to assist others

History unearthed in New College renovation

The past meets present when remnants of the former New College building and its occupants were unearthed after being buried for almost 200 years.
Garbutt Construction found the artifacts during the $3 million renovation of New College on North Campus.
Since the renovation began the site has been teeming with construction workers, geologists and architects.
Students volunteer at Habitat for Humanity

University law student helps convict drug trafficker

Thanks to one University law student’s summer internship, he can add ‘cracking down on a crack dealer’ to his resume.
Philip Henderson, a third-year law student from Clayton, is interning with the Griffin Judicial Circuit, where he helped convict drug trafficker Terrence Berry, who received a 30-year prison sentence.
