‘Confederate History Month’ ludicrous

It still strikes me for a moment whenever I see the Stars and Bars flying. It’s not that it offends me, a white Southerner, it’s that it offends so many millions of other people.

And I’m not saying I perpetually walk on eggshells to avoid offending the sensibilities of all other humans, but for a group of people who so willingly boast of their “hospitality” and “manners” it’s kind of ironic that so many Southerners still feel a need to fly the Confederate flag.

Man on the Market: After four dates, a newfound respect

As much fun as I had being a part of The Red and Black’s little blind date marathon, I couldn’t have been more relieved to wake up Wednesday and know that it was over. Maybe now the daily stream of text messages telling me what a dildo I am will stop.

It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the company of Rachel, Mamie, Sarah and Anna; it’s just that these four ladies really took a lot out of me.

MAN ON THE MARKET DATE 4: Last chance for romance for him

The pressure was on to make an event out of my last date. And though I thought long and hard about taking Anna to Toppers and punishing my liver with Wild Turkey, I decided against this. I have the mouth of a sailor and have been called abrasive, arrogant and vulgar more than a few times.

Man on the Market: Date 3 for him

My third date with Sarah got off to a less-than-perfect start. Apparently, someone at The Red and Black forgot to make sure Aromas on Milledge wasn’t having a 50-person function Monday evening. But it was, and Sarah and I were forced to wing it.

Neither of us had ever been to Aromas, and I could tell Sarah was slightly disappointed that it didn’t have room for us that night.

Almost every single person I spoke to about my second date said that taking a girl to a shooting range was an exquisitely poor idea. “That’s so unromantic,” all of my female friends said.

Not only is the shooting range fun as hell and a great way to blow off stress, but it also lets you see how your date will react to a situation she’s not entirely comfortable with.

Man on the Market: Date 1 for him

Two weeks ago I was pretty convinced this whole “Man on the Market” thing was going to be a disaster. And while I still have three dates to go, my first date with Rachel the cougar went quite well. The plan was to meet at Harry Bissett’s for dinner and – if things went smoothly – to head someplace for drinks afterward.

Human Papillomavirus is so ubiquitous that an estimated 80 percent of the human population will contract it during their lives.

With such an alarming rate of infection, much research during the past decade has sought a safe and effective vaccine.

Ten days after America went to the polls, three Senate races in Alaska, Minnesota and Georgia have yet to be decided.

In Georgia, incumbent Sen. Saxby Chambliss (Rep.) finished ahead of Jim Martin (Dem.) by about 110,000 votes but with only 49.8 percent of the popular vote.

President-elect Barack Obama may change his mind about openly negotiating with rogue nations without preconditions, a journalist told students Thursday.

“The problem with Obama speaking to Iran is that [the Iranians] won’t be sitting on their hands. They will continue to develop their nuclear capabilities,” said Herb Keinon, a diplomatic correspondent for the Jerusalem Post.
