Losing their bassist has not been a huge setback for The Whigs when it comes to producing new music.
In fact, Parker Gispert of the Whigs said having different bassists play and write with the band has actually been beneficial for writing new material.
Gispert said their first album, “Give ‘Em All A Big Fat Lip,” was an accumulation of their writing from the first eight months to a year of when The Whigs were first together.

Experimental NYC band ‘exploits’ Athens

Jeremiah Cymerman and his band the Big Exploitation will combine the experimental music of New York with the rock music of Athens for its show at 40 Watt Club Saturday. The Big Exploitation, which consists of 13 musicians, will be conducted by Cymerman. Its music is entirely improvised for every show.
Five Eight gets more ‘intimate’

An earlier start time and a more intimate venue will not keep rock band Five Eight from delivering a lot of rock ‘n’ roll jamming. The band’s show at the Melting Point Saturday will begin a lot earlier than most shows in Athens, allowing fans to be in bed by midnight.
Student songwriter to play Tasty World

Allison Weiss started playing guitar in ninth grade to impress a boy in her class, but she has stayed with music for a deeper reason – to produce a style different from other female acoustic artists. Weiss, a sophomore from Flowery Branch, said most female musicians tend to produce lyrics that attack males because they hurt women.
