Local trapeze dance studio performs homage to water

Water, or the lack thereof, has been in the news and on TV – now it’s in the air. Canopy Studio, the local dance studio known for its aerial dance and trapeze work, will perform “Water Body” this weekend. The performance includes not only aerial dances performed by the Canopy Repertory Company, but also a video montage designed by show co-director Michelle Dodson and spoken word written by ecological writer and naturalist Janisse Ray.

Over a glass of wine with her friend Pat Priest last summer, a light bulb appeared over the head of Joan Prittie, executive director of Project Safe. Priest, a fellow Project Safe supporter, suggested that Prittie put on a dance show to benefit the organization.

Therefore, Effie’s Club Follies Vaudeville Burlesque Revue will host its second annual chili cook-off Saturday at Little Kings. Vince Vaughn has come to town and comedy ain’t never gonna be the same. In 2005, Vaughn assembled four comedians – Bret Ernst, Brian Caparulo, Ahmed Ahmed and Sebastian Maniscalco – and took them on a road trip across the U.S. “Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Tour: 30 Days and 30 Nights – Hollywood to the Heartland,” documents the journey that took the comedians to 30 cities.
