Study says UGA students frown on obese

Two-thirds of Americans over the age of 18 are overweight, according to a report from the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Eight out of 10 states with the highest obesity rates are in the South, including Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, where more than 30 percent of the population is overweight.
Forgotten Friends finding food for homeless critters

Now that’s a lot of food. In its first supply drive last year, Forgotten Friends collected more than 100 cans of pet food. The Savannah River Ecology Laboratory, the University’s research facility near Aiken, S.C., received a $2.6 million federal grant, enabling the facility to create 12 new full-time positions.
The grant, provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will also restore about 16 full-time University researcher positions.
