University President Michael Adams dropped the ball (and lost the letter). Sanford Stadium had the opportunity to host one of sports’ greatest spectacles, soccer’s World Cup. But the letter that the United States World Cup Bid Committee sent to the University got lost in the shuffle on Adams’ desk.

Diamond Dogs down Mississippi State before record crowd (w/ audio)

If the Georgia baseball team’s defense was good in Friday night’s series opener against Mississippi State, it was superb in Georgia’s 4-0 win in the battle of the Diamond Dogs Saturday afternoon.

Despite some nervy, bases-loaded situations early on, Georgia starting pitcher Alex McRee combined with relievers Michael Palazzone and Will Harvil and closer Dean Weaver for a solid pitching display in the Bulldogs’ fourth shutout of the season.

Freshman ‘excited’ to play in World Cup

Although the Georgia soccer team’s season is officially over, one team member is still gearing up for competitive action.

Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Baker will take part in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with her native England squad. The tournament, played in Chile, begins today and runs through Dec.

Players’ moods were mixed inside the Georgia soccer camp after the team’s elimination from the NCAA Tournament on Friday. The Bulldogs (11-11-1) put in a dominating performance in their first round College Cup game against James Madison, but it did not show up on the scoreboard in Winston-Salem, N.

The soccer team will face the unknown when it begins its NCAA College Cup adventure this evening.

Having qualified for the tournament for the second consecutive year, the Bulldogs (11-10-1) will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on James Madison in the first round at 8.
