It’s time to do some yoga. Raise your arms. Raise your legs. Raise money to help a local cancer center. Sangha Yoga Studio at the Healing Arts Centre is hosting Yogathon! on Saturday, Oct. 20 to benefit the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support. Meghan Burke, founding director of the studio and an alumna of the University, said the Loran Smith Center is an invaluable resource in Athens.

Dance Marathon hosts royal guest

University students rubbed elbows with royalty Wednesday night.
Miss America Lauren Nelson made an appearance at Dance Marathon’s kick-off at Herty Field.
“My visit to Georgia has been great,” Nelson said.
Dance Marathon is a philanthropic organization composed of University students who raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit that raises funds for children’s hospitals in North America.

Figgie’s at Five to host musical entertainment

For nearly a year, Figgie’s at Five, a series of concerts featuring a variety of musical artists, has been held at the Georgia Museum of Art. Bonnie Ramsey, the director of communications for the museum, said the venue’s environment and convenient location has attracted numbers of students.
Female artists explore equal exposure

A group of all women artists completed a showcase of their masterpieces at ATHICA art gallery Sunday.
The Women’s Caucus for Art of Georgia held their exhibition, STRETCH, beginning Aug. 1.
The 35-year-old organization is a chapter of the National Women’s Caucus for Art.
Revue provides funds for local charities

A talented group of University students and alumni will be taking their cue from the city that never sleeps with their performance, FACES II: A Broadway Revue. It is the second year that the O’Griffinberry Players, a relatively new production company, have performed FACES.
