Two University researchers received nearly $1 million in stimulus monies to fund a two-year project helping the elderly interact with their doctors.

Researchers Vicki Freimuth and Don Rubin will use the $970,039 – provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act – to train Meals on Wheels volunteers as health literacy educators for the elderly.

Tutoring service streams study reviews to Facebook

A local tutoring service is turning to Facebook to help University students pass classes such as finance, chemistry and statistics.

Beginning Sept. 1, Athens’ TutoringZone will stream its popular study review sessions online through its Facebook group.

“We are going through Facebook, and we are going to offer students weekly sessions to do on their computer on their own time,” said Graham Rees, managing partner of TutoringZone.

Keeping this campus clean, green and powered up is Dexter Adams, director of grounds for the University’s Physical Plant. Adams is in charge of maintaining the University’s classrooms, dorms, landscaping and power bills.
