Paige Wilson's phone was blowing up. The Georgia softball team shortstop found out about her win for the Southeastern Conference's freshman of the week on Monday — in the most unusual and social of places. "This sounds weird, but I found out on Twitter," Wilson said. "My teammates had been tweeting like, 'Congrats on freshman of the week.' I had been taking a nap, too, so I was like, 'What? Why is everyone tweeting at me?'" This isn't the first time the Chicago native has been honored by the SEC. Wilson was named freshman of the week in the last week of February, the first member of her team to pull off the feat this season. Only one of her teammates, sophomore pitcher Morgan Montemayor, has won the award twice in one season. Wilson credits the second award to her improved hitting skills. She led the team in last week's play with a .500 average. "I worked on not overstepping," she said. "I feel more confident now." Playing shortstop, Wilson has helped the No. 9 Bulldogs to their 28-5 record this season. But Wilson said she won't let the award go to her head. "It's definitely a nice honor," she said. "But I got to keep working hard." Georgia's next game comes Friday night against No. 4 Florida. First pitch is set for 8 p.m. EVAN STICHLER/Staff
