X-C Teams Head to Auburn for First Major Test of Year

The men’s and women’s cross country teams each will be looking to win their third straight meet of the season when they travel to Auburn Saturday to compete in the 2008 Tiger Invitational.
And while the runners usually come to head track coach Wayne Norton or distance coach Jeff Pigg for advice, they may want to consult one of the Bulldog golfers before this event.

The Georgia cross country team took care of business before most University students got out of bed Saturday. The Bulldogs sealed their second sweep of the young season by defeating West Carolina at the Catamount Classic on a cool Carolina morning in Cullowhee, N.

The cross country team will take its winning act on the road this weekend to participate in the Catamount Classic in Cullowhee, N.C. Cullowhee’s mountainous terrain and cooler temperatures will pose a challenge to Bulldog endurance runners competing in the season’s first race away from home.

About 300 spectators gathered at dusk Thursday under blue skies with high, fluffy clouds to cheer on the Georgia cross country team as it faced off with Georgia Tech at the intramural fields.
